Volunteers & Siblings

Because we are 100% volunteer-run, we need your help. Adults (of any gender) can enjoy day camp along with the campers! We rely on adult volunteers to monitor groups, help out with activities, and provide sibling and boys unit care. Day camp activities are pre-set and with specialists to lead them, so all the group leaders have to do is help supervise the campers.

Volunteers are asked to attend an orientation meeting about 2 weeks before camp (over zoom). Each day you volunteer one camper or caddie attends for FREE (limited to one camper or caddie per volunteer on the day you attend)!

Adult volunteers are welcome to bring other children with them to camp for a whole family camping experience!

Boys age 5-12 have their own "sibling unit" and activities for days their adults are volunteering including swimming, archery, canoeing, and low ropes (as the schedule allows).

Siblings 5 and under are welcome to come to camp and are based in the same area as the boy's unit. If you have a sibling who has trouble being away from you, we recommend signing up as a volunteer for the sibling unit.

New this year: Volunteers will sign up for shifts on a first-come, first-served basis through sign up genius. Those volunteering full time will have first choice at shifts to encourage multi-day volunteering. The same person from a family do NOT have to volunteer every day to qualify for this.

NOTE: Volunteers do not need to be a parent, but do need to be 18. ALL volunteers must register with Girl Scouts and have a background check prior to attending camp. This is required for safety purposes. The registration and background check can take several days to complete and must be completed by June 1, 2025.

Transportation: Bus transportation is included for all campers, caddies, volunteers, and siblings. All buses will pick up and drop off from the parking lot of Mounds View High School (1900 Lake Valentine Rd, Arden Hills, MN 55112). Buses pick up in the morning at 8:00 am and return to Mounds View High School around 4:30 pm (depending on traffic). Friday will be a half day and buses will return around 2:00 pm. Volunteers are allowed to drive separately to camp, but must communicate that to us in advance.

Please be ready to upload your completed Health History Form for the volunteer AND any siblings or boys attending on your registration form.
Register as a volunteer with Girl Scouts of River Valleys and complete a background check by June 1, 2024. (This is mandatory for safety purposes. If registration fees are a financial hardship, please contact Girl Scouts River Valleys for financial aid information.)

Sibling/Boys unit registration is part of the volunteer registration as siblings can only attend on the days their adult is volunteering. Cost for siblings is $16 per day, or $80 for a full week.

The Volunteer Information Meeting is held 1-2 weeks prior to camp via zoom. All adult volunteers are required to attend.
